ShadowExplorer is a great tool for Windows Vista users. Windows Vista comes in several flavors: Home, Ultimate, Business, etc. The more basic versions lack some features present in the most expensive versions. The one we need to mention here is access to the system restore points (backups). You just can't access those files if you have Windows Vista Home. ShadowExplorer allows you to do just that. Those backups contain all your files that you have recently changed. So, if you happen to move or delete a file or if you need an earlier version of a file, you can simply fire ShadowExplorer up and browse the backups to retrieve your file. ShadowExplorer resembles Windows Explorer and it is pretty easy to use. Once you found the files that you want to recover, you can move them to any other folder that you want. This is a great tool for retrieving certain files after you accidentally delete them. You should not take this application as a backup method, though, since it will go to waste if your hard drive breaks.
